How can Dr. Cialdini's Principle of Liking double your influence?

When someone likes us, they are much more likely to listen to us, to give us the benefit of the doubt, and to go along with our way of thinking or our plan of action – in both personal and business relationships.

An international accounting firm, KPMG, did a study among their 89 account managers and their clients.

What KPMG did was create an algorithm to define how weak or strong the relationship was between their account manager and the client.

They did this by categorizing these relationships in one of three ways: Weak, Average, and Strong.

Next, they looked into how often a client said yes to a proposal from their account manager.

What they discovered was that when the relationship was weak, around 30% of the clients said yes to the proposal.

When the relationship was average, that increased to about 45% of the clients who said yes to the proposal.

And when there was a strong relationship between the account manager and the client…

What do you think the percentage of yeses was?

The yeses came back at an astonishing 70%!
