If you think presenting your idea is enough, you’re missing a key step. Learn it from Joe Girard's story - the world's best salesman.
- Getting into a leading corporate position?
- Achieving wealth?
- Building a business?
You'll need to influence others to help your purpose.
Especially those with money, power, and authority.
This is where most people struggle.
What people usually do:
Explaining and Presenting.
They try to make their purpose and their idea more attractive.
And they hope that others will be lured by their purpose and will align their resource (time, money, skills, etc.) with their purpose.
Big mistake leading to a waste of your time.
Influence is a process of many small steps.
You skip a step - and you lose it.
The recovery is impossible.
But there are others who consistently make progress.
Here's a story about Joe Girard, a man included in the Guinness Book of World Records.
Joe could sell about 100 cars every month.
And was doing it consistently for 12 years.
His secret was offering a fair price and being someone people liked to buy from.
How did he get people to like him and refer him again and again?
You'll think this is a joke and can't work that well.
He mailed an actual card to every customer every month.
A different one to match the holiday season.
And on the inside, there were only 2 things:
- "I like you"
- And his name
This came in the mail every year, 12 times a year like clockwork:
"I like you" - on a printed card went off to 13 thousand people.
What's the lesson for us?
Like people, and they will like you back.
That's what Joe's first step.
Now, with this knowledge, when would you like to put it to a test?
